Legendary investor Warren Buffett advises to be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when

Legendary investor Warren Buffett advises to be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful. One way we can try to measure the level of fear in a given stock is through a technical analysis indicator called the Relative Strength Index, or RSI, which measures momentum on a scale of zero to 100. A stock is considered to be oversold if the RSI reading falls below 30. In trading on Wednesday, shares of Frontdoor Inc (Symbol: FTDR) entered into oversold territory, hitting an RSI reading of 29.9, after changing hands as low as $43.37 per share. By comparison, the current RSI reading of the S&P 500 ETF (SPY) is 58.6. A bullish investor could look at FTDR’s 29.9 RSI reading today as a sign that the recent heavy selling is in the process of exhausting itself, and begin to look for entry point opportunities on the buy side. The chart below shows the one year performance of FTDR shares: Looking at the chart above, FTDR’s low point in its 52 week range is $26.61 per share, with $53.295 as the 52 week high point — that compares with a last trade of $43.50. Chicago 2020 budget approved by City Council with 11 no votes

“There are always gonna be critics,” the mayor said after the vote. “But what I know is, we needed 26 votes and we got 39.” Former Mayor Rahm Emanuel pitched a shutout in his first big game on a new field, even though his first city budget doubled water and sewer rates, raised city sticker fees, hotel and parking taxes and closed three district police stations. Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s 2020 budget goes easier on taxpayers, steers clear of a massive property tax increase, but had 11 “no” votes. There were 15 votes against her $104.2 million revenue package, which includes an $18 million property tax increase to open Chicago Public libraries on Sundays and higher taxes and fees on everything from ride-hailing, restaurant meals and recreational marijuana to cloud computing and parking meters. Is there a message in that dissent — and a warning for a mayor who can’t appease progressive aldermen? “Throughout his entire time as mayor, not only were there critics in the City Council. There were also critics on the left, who said he wasn’t progressive enough. He didn’t move fast enough. He didn’t do things in the way that they wanted him to do,” the mayor said. Lightfoot stuck to the scrip...

- Mt. Airy native is Philadelphia’s assistant deputy commissioner for Fire Department

Crystal Yates, the Philadelphia Fire Department’s assistant deputy commissioner for EMS, never imagined she would work for the fire department even though her father was a firefighter. She’s now the first woman to serve as an assistant deputy commissioner for the department. As a kid growing up in Mt. Airy, she spent many hours at Engine 19 Ladder 8 firehouse at the corner of East Chelten Avenue and Baynton Street in Germantown where her father was stationed most of his career. The fire station had a fire ladder and chief car, and an ambulance she recalled peering into the back of as a six-year-old child. “If you can picture being a small kid, and [then] they opened those big doors and you look inside and see all that medical equipment, it frightened me,” Yates said. “Whenever we visited, they would let me sit in the seat in the engine, sit in the cage in the ladder, and they would offer me to sit in the medic unit. I was terrified, so I always said, ‘No,’ and cried. It’s kind of funny that, ironically, that became my job.” Even as a teenager, Yates never envisioned a career as a paramedic because she never saw women at the fire house. It wasn’t until 1985 that Philadelphia hir...

One of the top big-game kayak anglers in the world is preaching the gospel of the

One of the top big-game kayak anglers in the world is preaching the gospel of the surf from his hideaway in Costa Rica The rip of his drag sounds like a kicked hornets’ nest as I pedal my kayak toward him. The sun breaks over the cloud-ringed mountains and casts a sapphire light across the bay—an Instagram sunrise, for sure. And in the center of it all is Clinton, an American expat and recovering drug addict, on his dirty 12-foot kayak, rod bent in half, a boss yellowfin taking line. At 50 years old and 17 years sober, with a growing name in the elite world of big-game kayak fishing and a new turn in his career as a top-flight knife designer, Clinton’s insane, drug-crazed past feels like a different lifetime now. His only present concerns are the fish he’s tied to and me getting my line in the water. “Bro, cast that popper!” he hollers as I get close. “Cast!” So I fire the plug, and as soon as it hits water, the rod behind me that I’m trolling with Clinton’s all-time favorite bait, a Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnow, lights up with that heart-thumping sound of 45-pound braid smoking off the reel. “Set it! Set it!” he howls, still fighting his fish. I set the hook with everything I’ve got,...
